About

Katherine Wilkinson is a queer director and producer based in Brooklyn.

Katherine has spent the last decade creating new ensemble-driven performance throughout the US and abroad. She has developed work in Australia, India, Japan, Greece, Mexico, and England.

Katherine creates performance to investigate the magic and potential of communal experience. Her theatrical work questions how we can transform our fears and silences into a mutual language of action. And how we can uplift each other with both radical tenderness and rigor.

How can collective experimentation move us toward deeper self-actualization and power? What stories and rituals draw us closer to our greatest potential and shared truths? How can we re-imagine the world around us and build our futures through performance? Katherine grapples with these questions through both new theatrical work and classical texts.

Katherine has developed work with Classical Theatre of Harlem, Juilliard, WP Theatre, Signature Theatre, Columbia Stages, The Magic Theatre, SITI Company, Suzuki Company of Toga, Zen Zen Zo, Deborah Hay, GenEnCo, Fusebox Festival, Movement Research, The Watermill Center, The VORTEX, The Oklahoma Contemporary, among others. Katherine has Assisted/Associate Directed for Anne Bogart, Sam Gold, Whitney White, and Robert Wilson.

As a music video artist, her work has premiered on Billboard, Vice and Afropunk.

Katherine is the founder and producing artistic director of  Gale Theatre Company. Gale is an award winning ensemble dedicated to developing new performance and fostering ongoing artistic training and collaboration.  Gale’s work has been seen at the NOLA Fringe Festival, Houston Fringe, The VORTEX, Ground Floor Theatre, UT Austin, Oklahoma Contemporary and Columbia University.
